Sometimes in life it's hard to face the truth. Even when things may be plain as day to see, we sometimes find a way to fool ourselves. For motorcycle enthusiasts this is often more than apparent when we make a motorcycle purchase. How many riders each year rush to the local bike shop to buy the fastest, lightest most advanced racing machine available because surely only the most extreme motorcycle will showcase their Troy Bayliss-like track skills.

Pressure can be a very funny thing. Some people thrive on it and some people crumble under it. The pressure to perform on the big stage when all eyes are on you can be extreme. This is exactly what the new ZX10R was facing when it hit the road and track this season.

“Hey! Is that thing fast?” asked the really cool guy sitting next to me at the light on a real chopper with a suicide shifter/clutch combo and skinny rear tire. “She gets the job done” replied the slightly geeky motorcycle magazine editor sitting on the new Victory High Ball trying to look cool. “It’s good looking” said chopper-dude.
